Natural Remedies for Yeast and Parasites

There are some natural treatments that are effective at helping the body kill and remove yeast and parasites. If you suspect that you have an overgrowth, you might consider some of the treatments below:

Dietary Adjustments- If you do have yeast or parasites, any sugars at all can feed an infestation and make removal very uncomfortable. If you are embarking on a natural treatment for Candida, fungi or parasites, remove all sources of natural sugar from you diet, including sources like honey and fruits. Some Stevia is ok once in a while, but avoid anything that gives the body a sugar source and feeds yeast or parasites. Consider also avoiding dairy for 1-2 weeks to give you body a boost.
Sweat- As your body kills off parasites and yeast, their by-products must be removed from the body, along with the toxins that they might have bound to. Some of these are best removed through the sweat glands, so let your body sweat by exercising, taking cayenne supplements and getting in hot tubs or saunas during the healing process.
Diatomaceous Earth- This is a naturally occurring substance that has amazing ability to kill parasites, yeast and parasite eggs. It is naturally high in silica, which is necessary for hair, nail and skin growth, and has other trace minerals as well. It can also help restore body tissue and improve digestion. If you decide to take this supplementally, start with 1 tsp per day in 8 ounces of water and work up to 1-2 TBSP a day until yeast symptoms disappear. Read info below on Herxheimers reaction! Also, make sure to use food grade Diatomaceous earth! More info here.
Apple Cider Vinegar- Another easy and effective remedy for Candida and parasites. Apple Cider Vinegar is high in B-vitamins and very nourishing to the body. It help the body’s pH neutralize and improves digestion. It is well known for killing yeast and improving skin condition. Some people are leery of vinegar, as a fermented product, when they have a yeast infection. While some fermented products like beer and wine can feed yeast, Apple Cider Vinegar undergoes a much different fermentation process and produces a completely different reaction in the body. It tastes awful, but after taking it for a while, you will become more tolerant of the taste, and your body will start to crave it. Start with 1 tsp up to 3 times a day about 30 minutes before each meal (some people can’t handle it before breakfast!). If you handle this well, this dosage can be increased to a tablespoon.
Probiotics- Probiotics restore the helpful gut bacteria that is wiped out by yeast or parasites (or antibiotic or oral contraceptive use). Probiotics are necessary to restore proper intestinal flora, even after yeast and parasites have been removed. A high quality probiotic supplement should be included, taken according to product instruction. Do not take probiotics within an hour of Apple Cider Vinegar or Diatomaceous Earth! You might also consider drinks like Kombucha and Water Kefir to help build up probiotic levels, or whole plain full-fat yogurt.
Cinnamon- Cinnamon is a natural remedy for parasites and fungus. Take ½ tsp of a high quality cinnamon powder in water up to three times a day.
Vitamin C- Besides being an excellent antioxidant and immune support, Vitamin C is helpful in yeast/parasite removal. If you have symptoms of yeast and parasites, take 5,000 mg (5 grams) per day spread out in 2-3 doses. Do not take vitamin C at the same time as calcium/magnesium as they will neutralize each other. High consumption of Vitamin C may cause loose bowel movements, especially when yeast and parasites are being removed. This is not necessarily worrisome, but if it bothers you, adjust the dose down until symptoms go away.
Coconut Oil- Coconut Oil is naturally anti fungal and very nourishing to the body. Hopefully, you are using it in your cooking by now, but consider taking several tablespoons a day additional as an antifungal support. This will also help support the hormones and reproductive system. To make it easier to take, dissolve a couple tablespoons in a hot tea of choice and drink. The first couple sips will be coconut oil, and then you will just taste the tea.
Garlic- To help remove yeast and parasites, finely mince 1-2 cloves and drink in a cup of water before meals.
Olive Oil- Also an antifungal that supports removal of parasite and yeast waste. Add 1-2 TBSP or more to salads or veggies, or take supplementally.
Other Herbs known to help with yeast and parasites: Oregano Oil, Thyme, Peppermint, Rosemary, Olive Leaf Extract and Grapefruit Seed Extract.  If you have a severe case of yeast or parasites, consider using on of these potent herbs, but do your research first!

Herxheimer’s Reaction

The removal of yeast and parasites can be uncomfortable at times. This reaction, named after the German dermatologist who discovered it, is basically the discomfort caused by the die off of yeast and parasites and the body’s attempt to remove them. The faster you attempt to treat symptoms and the more potent remedies you take, the higher your chance of experiencing this reaction.
It is best to be on an anti yeast/parasite diet for several weeks before starting supplements to help minimize this reaction.  Starting with small doses of Apple Cider Vinegar and Diatomaceous Earth and then working up will also help keep die off symptoms at bay.

10 foods to eat when you're fighting lyme

Certain foods not only exploit different healing capabilities within the body, but also work alongside it in a beneficially healing manner.  Lyme Disease itself plays a certain role as an invading organism, and as a result, it affects the body differently than say how another disease would.   So the food you should eat should specifically address the effects Lyme Disease uniquely has as a disease on the body; the same way you would take a certain medication for a specific ailment.   And if you have to eat, which all living organisms must do to survive, you might as well eat foods that act as the medicine for your specific ailment, especially when you have this knowledge to exploit for your own health.
While there are many more foods readily available that provide great medicinal support to the body when battling Lyme Disease, these are just a few that have a tendency to be discussed in the Lyme community.

1. Garlic

The active constituent in garlic is allicin, which possesses antibacterial, anti fungal, and anti parasitic properties.  It's a part of the Zhang protocol.  Garlic when consumed can cause herxing from both Candida and Lyme Disease so be vigilant of how you feel after consumption.

Garlic also has the ability to oxidize heavy metals into a water soluble form.  This makes it easier for the body to remove heavy metals from the body, which biofilmshave a tendency to cling to.  Heavy metals can really damper the immune system, which is something a lot of Lyme literate doctors address during treatment.

2. Raw Sauerkraut

Supporting the immune system can really be done right through the digestive system.  Raw sauerkraut is fermented cabbage in salt, and consuming it daily has huge benefits for the digestive tract and the body as a whole.

Because it's raw, or not heated in any manner, it contains living enzymes which help the body absorb nutrients, and live bacteria (i.e., probiotics), which when populated in appropriate numbers in the digestive tract, serve as a first defense against foreign invaders or bad bacteria.

3. Lemon

All with Lyme Disease know that lemons are excellent for detoxing and reducing a herx, but the part we tend to not consume is just as beneficial - the rind.  The lemon rind itself contains more vitamins and minerals than the juice.

The high vitamin C content in lemons makes them highly appropriate for assisting the immune system.  Lemons are also beneficial when it comes to reducing joint pain.  A simple recipe includes butter squash, parsley, and lemon zest, or you can combine lemon zest with cinnamon and garnish pineapple and blueberries for dessert.

4. Parsley

Picture

Parsley's active constituent myristicin activates production of glutathione-S-transferase in the liver, and assists gluthione, the body's "master detoxing agent", in removing harmful toxins from the body.  Parsley, in supplement form, is used as a herxheimer reducer in the Cowden protocol.

Use generous amount of parsley in your culinary creations instead of it acting as just a garnish.  Throw a decent amount of parsley and 1-2 cloves of garlic in your scrambled eggs in the morning!

5. Pineapple

Pineapple contains the constituent bromelain, which is well known throughout the world as an anti-inflammatory agent.  In fact, it works so well that it's actually part of the non-core Buhner protocol, alongside curcumin, for reducing inflammation induced pain for Lyme Disease.  It has also been shown to be beneficial to CD57 cells, natural killer cells uniquely attracted to the Lyme bacteria Borrelia.

Pineapple may be to sweet for some dealing with an active candida infection, so if you want to reap the benefits of pineapple without the sugar, seek out the isolated constituent bromelain as a supplement.

Picture

6. Turmeric

Picture

Curcumin is the ingredient within turmeric that gives it its ominous yellow color.  It is commonly used for reducing inflammation in people with Lyme Disease, which is the cause for some pain.

When it comes to detoxing, curcumin stands tall.  Not only does it increase bile production in the liver (bile being the transportation for toxins to leave the body), it has also been shown to stimulate production of glutathione, the master detoxing antioxidant produced by the body.  Turmeric can also induce herxing from Candida so be vigilant of how you feel after consumption; or seek out curcumin in supplement form.

7. Basil

A great herb for reducing inflammation in the body is basil.  It contains the constituent eugenol which has the ability to block the body's enzyme cyclooxygenase in the same manner that many pharmaceutical drugs can.  By blocking this enzyme, pain and inflammation can be reduced.

In a bowl, add sliced tomatoes, an avocado, 2 cloves of garlic, extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and freshly diced basil.

8. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Picture

Extra virgin olive oil (unfiltered is best as it contains all the constituents) contains the antibacterial property oleuropein, which has been shown to be effective against certain mycoplasma infections and Lyme Disease as a secondary or assisting antimicrobial.  Herxing can be induced by taking oleuropein in supplement form.

Extra virgin olive oil is also great at preventing inflammation, and serves a great benefit to the heart, kidneys, and spleen.  Apply it liberally to your food, but be warned that too much may send you to the bathroom!

9. Kale

Kale is loaded with essential vitamins such as iron, calcium, vitamin k, vitamin a, vitamin c, and is another great anti-inflammatory food due to it's omega-3 content. Because of kale's sulfur content, it greatly serves a person in need of detoxing from Lyme Disease die off by increasing bile production in the liver.  Bile is needed to remove toxins from the liver to the colon.

Kale is easy to cook.  Just de-stem a handful or 2, chop it up, and place it in a steamer for 2-3 minutes.  Then place it in a bowl and add salt, pepper, extra virgin olive oil, fresh mustard, and half of a freshly squeezed lemon.

Picture

10. Coconut

Picture

Coconut is a potent antiviral, antibacterial, and more importantly, an antifungal thanks to its constituent monolaurin which has caused people to herx.  Monolaurin can be effective more specifically against the Epstein Barr Virus, which is a common Lyme coinfection.

Coconut is more widely know for its ability to kill candida.  Use it as a substitute for olive oil when it comes to cooking.  Be observant though of how much you use because you may inadvertently induce a candida herx.

Disclaimer:
It's important to remember that just like medicine, not everyone will react in the same manner, whether it be positive or negative, to the consumption of certain foods.  It is critical to listen to your body at all times.  Be cognizant of the foods you eat, and how you feel after consuming them.  The information on this page may or may not be based off of scientific research, but rather general consensus from the Lyme community and other resources.

Tips on getting rid of parasites in your body

Drink Kombucha and other fermented products

             Destroy parasites in your body

Parasites love sugar and everything that turns into sugar. So the best way to starve the parasites is through using healthy fasting and cleansing strategies while eliminating as much sugar and grains as possible from the diet.

Several herbs and foods act as very strong anti-parasitic agents. Extra virgin coconut oil is loaded with medium chain triglycerides that enhance the immune system in its battle against pathogens. Raw garlic and onions provide sulfur containing amino acids that are anti-parasitic. Eat six tablespoons of raw, extra virgin coconut oil, one whole clove of garlic and one large red onion daily to help parasite proof your body.

Dried oregano and especially essential oil of oregano are extremely volatile and anti-parasitic. Use two to three drops of oregano oil in water with fresh squeezed lemon and drink this three times a day. Clove works just as well so you could also substitute or use clove oil with oregano oil. Ginger, wormwood, black walnut are also commonly used in anti-parasitic strategies.

Fasting with fermented drinks such as fermented whey from grass-fed cows and fermented ginger, kombucha, coconut kefir, apple cider vinegar, etc. are powerful tools to help destroy parasites. Many holistic health coaches recommend a three to 21 day low calorie, liquid diet that is rich in fermented beverages, water and fresh squeezed lemon. Probiotic supplements are highly recommended to help destroy parasites and re-inoculate the gut.

After the cleansing period, it is especially important to utilize high quality, fermented raw dairy and vegetables. Raw, grass-fed fermented dairy products like amasai, cheese and kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented veggies should be used abundantly. These foods are rich sources of L-glutamine, an amino acid that helps rebuild the gut. These fermented foods also contain very powerful strains of good bacteria, organic acids and enzymes that act to keep parasites out of the body.

Parasites in Humans, Do you have any?

Common Signs of Parasites in Humans

Almost everyone has been affected by an attack of parasites at least once. These microscopic organisms tend to cause a variety of diseases in human beings. Read on for more information on parasites in humans symptoms.

Parasites are microscopic organisms that live in the body of the host. They depend entirely on the host for their nutrition and shelter. Some of them do not harm the host, but there are others that can cause a series of infections. These can be of any size from the microscopic protozoa to the worms that can be seen with naked eyes. These organisms can live in any part of the body. Most of the individuals are affected by intestinal parasites or worms that live in the small or large intestine of the body. The signs and symptoms exhibited by these harmful disease-causing germs in humans are unlikely to be identified since it takes several weeks and even months for the indications of an infection to surface. Some of the most common types of parasites that affect human beings are tapeworms, liver flukes, ringworm, and heartworms etc. There are many media through which a parasite can enter the body. Contaminated food, water and polluted air are some of the common media from where the parasites enter a body and cause infections. Let's learn more about the indications of parasitic attack in humans, ways to prevent their infestation and methods of treating the infection caused by them.

Indications of Parasites in the Body

After parasites enter the body, they release certain toxins that can cause several types of infections and health related disorders. The parasites that are present in the intestinal tract can cause inflammation of the inner lining or the mucosa membrane of the intestines. The toxins can also cause malfunctioning of certain organs like the kidneys and liver. Given below are some indicants of the presence of protozoa in the body:
Allergies: The presence of certain parasites in the body can cause allergic reactions. Some parasites irritate and perforate the inner lining of the intestinal tract, leading to intestinal permeability (also known as a leaky gut). The presence of these pathogens in the body leads to the over production of the body's defense cells called eosinophils. An excess of these fighter cells in the body can cause allergic reactions. The presence of these allergy-producing parasites can also trigger the over production of immunoglobulin E (IgE), which is a type of antibody.
Anemia: The presence of certain types of worms like taenia solium (tapeworm), ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm) and liver flukes attach themselves to the mucosal membrane of the intestine and suck the nutrients from the body. If there are many worms present in the intestinal tract, then they also tend to suck blood causing iron deficiency anemia or perinicious anemia.
Bloating and Gas: The inflammation caused due to the toxins, produced by the pathogens living in the small intestine can lead to a feeling of fullness or bloating and gas. This can also lead to the indigestion of high fiber foods like beans, vegetables and raw fruits. The symptom of this condition is a recurring distention of the abdomen. This symptom can last for a few months to many years till the protozoa are completely eliminated from the body.
Constipation: Some parasites are so large that they tend to block the intestinal passage restricting proper bowel movement. The infestation of worms can cause constipation, which can cause the elimination of waste materials from the body difficult and infrequent.
Diarrhea: Certain protozoa like entamoeba histolytica can cause the over production of an enzyme called prostaglandin, which leads to the loss of sodium and chloride from the body. This condition can develop into diarrhea, or amoebiasis where the person may experience loose, watery stools. This condition may also lead to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Fatigue: Pathogens in the body can exhaust it of energy. This is because microorganisms cause malabsorption of carbohydrates, fats, minerals, proteins and vitamins, which may result in deficiencies. All these factors can drain vital energy from the body and end up in fatigue. In the absence of timely diagnosis and treatment, this condition can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome.
Joint and Muscle Pain: The parasites tend to travel to other parts in the body and sometimes even in the muscles. This can lead to muscle stiffness, pain, irritation and inflammation of the joints.
Skin Conditions: The toxins produced by the parasites can create allergic reactions on the skin like hives, weeping eczema and rashes etc. The infestation of protozoa can lead to dermatitis, swelling, sores and lesions on some parts of the body like face, area around the eyes, and feet.
Other Symptoms: Some other parasites in human symptoms are aches, apathy, tumors, sleep disorders, grinding of teeth, muscle wastage, dysfunction of the immune system, impaired cognitive ability, difficulty in concentrating, and nervousness, etc.

Prevention and Treatment

In order to prevent infections, one must practice clean habits like washing hands and legs after coming from outside, using a disinfectant and drinking boiled water. Washing fruits and vegetables before consuming them is also a necessity to ward off any infections. For diagnosis, the doctor may tell you to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scan) to detect the presence of worms. A stool sample may also be taken in case of intestinal worms.

In some cases parasites in the body can be life-threatening that can also damage the immune system. So if you observe any symptoms of parasites in you, consult a doctor who may prescribe medication to treat the symptoms and ward off any possible infection.

How to Get Rid of Intestinal Parasites
The reliable treatment options for intestinal parasites are decided according to the type of infection. Approaches for how to get rid of intestinal parasites include therapeutic intervention and natural remedies.

 To know more, read on...

Parasitic infection in humans may occur in any part of the body. But, the site of infection is mostly restricted to the intestinal lining, where the parasites get easy access to food. Intestinal parasites in humans belong to two types - helminths or worms (e.g., tapeworm, pinworm) and protozoans (e.g., Giardia, trichomonads). Though both are harmful, the protozoans cause serious infections, compared to helminths. The parasites enter the host's body through skin, contaminated foods, water or soil.

The risks for intestinal infections are high amongst those who reside in crowded areas with poor sanitation. Symptoms of intestinal parasites may remain vague for many years after infection. As infection worsens, the manifested symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, gassiness, diarrhea, dysentery, weakness, itchiness in rectum, weight loss and most importantly, presence of worms in feces. If such symptoms are confirmed, do not delay in taking up prompt steps to get rid of intestinal parasites.

Tips to Get Rid of Intestinal Parasites

The long-term consequences of intestinal infection are increased fatigue, anemia, malnutrition and retarded growth in children. These are obvious, as parasites feed on the nutrients of the host, and the body no longer receives adequate nutrition. For diagnosis, the doctor may perform stool analysis (3 times consecutively), scotch tape test and X-ray imaging with barium enema (if severe infection is suspected). Here's how to eliminate intestinal parasites through medication treatment and natural ways.

Therapeutic Intervention
The conventional option for treating intestinal infection is administration of medications. Type of medicine for getting rid of worms and/or parasites is specific to the infection case, so is the dose. Thus, the prescribed medicine and concentration will vary from one patient to another. Stick to the recommended antiparasitic drugs and their doses to get prompt results. Any negligence, in terms of not completing the treatment course, increases the risk for recurrent parasitic infestations.

Natural Approaches
For alleviating any health problem, following natural treatment alternatives, free of adverse reactions is preferred over conventional medications. A healthy immune system is the key to fight against intestinal parasites. To achieve this, consume a well-balanced diet and lead an active lifestyle. These strategies along with herbal remedies are effective to deal with parasitic infections without any complications. Natural ways for getting rid of intestinal parasites are given below.

Diet and Supplements
In the routine diet plan, incorporate lots of whole grains and foods in their natural form. But, ensure that proper hygiene is maintained during cleaning and preparation of foods. Reduce the consumption amounts of simple carbohydrates, processed and packaged foods. They give a nutrition boost to the parasites and promote their multiplication. Taking probiotics, zinc and vitamin C supplements are considered to support the body in expelling parasites.

Crushed Pumpkin Seeds
The use of pumpkin seeds works in flushing off parasites from the host's body. Take about 400 g of pumpkin seeds and crush them properly. Stir in some honey and milk to make a runny paste. Have this before breakfast and then take a mild laxative to stimulate bowel movement and flush off the parasites. Similarly, pumpkin seed oil and its supplements are used in herbal therapy for intestinal infections.

Garlic Cloves
Another easily available and inexpensive herb used for getting rid of intestinal parasites is garlic. Be it worm or protozoa, garlic acts on both, and treats intestinal infection without side effects. Fresh garlic cloves (after mashing) can be taken with horseradish or milk 2-3 times daily for expelling intestinal parasites. Or, add juice of garlic (10 drops) in ½ glass milk and drink twice daily.

Savory
Savory (genus Satureja) is a medicinal herb with carminative and antimicrobial properties. The herb is directly added in tea and is consumed to get rid of intestinal worms. Savory essential oil does the same job, but in lower doses. Both the herb and oil aid in improving digestive health and purging of the parasites. So, use them in correct amounts, as directed by the herbalist.

Carrots and Beets
How to get rid of intestinal parasites in children? Nothing could be better than feeding grated carrots mixed with honey. Other choices include pomegranate and beets. They are rich sources of healthy vitamins, and are found to be helpful in eradicating worms. What's more, the taste is pleasant and one doesn't have to struggle for feeding them to children.

Wormwood Tea
Wormwood tea is touted as an effectual remedy for getting rid of tapeworms and other intestinal worms. Besides its antiseptic action, it strengthens the digestive system, boosts digestion and relieves stomach discomfort. Nevertheless, prolonged use of this herb is linked with side effects. So, consulting a herbalist is advisable to get a brief idea about the intake dose and period of wormwood for treating intestinal infections effectually.

To conclude with, go for follow-up visits to ensure complete removal of intestinal parasites from the body. Children, elderly people and those who have underlying diseases often contract intestinal parasites. To prevent common intestinal worms, deworming is directed twice in a year, i.e., once in every six months. Personal hygiene, drinking clean water, consuming well cooked foods while avoiding contaminated ones are some of the tips for preventing parasitic infections.

curcuma goji berry juice

A nice afternoon pick me up......

1/4 cup of goji berries,
1 half finger size piece of fresh curcumin or 1 capsule of curcumin,
4 tablespoons of coconut milk
1 cup of coconut water.
you can sweeten with any natural sweeteners, yacon syrup, raw honey, maple syrup, date syrup, etc.(optional).
Blend and drink

Curcumin has been shown to be one of the few substances that can bypass the brain blood barrier. This is important because studies have shown that curcumin can dissolve proteins in the brain that cause Alzheimer’s disease.
Curcumin is not easily absorbed into the bloodstream. Dissolving it in a fat such as coconut milk or oil allows it to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Coconut milk is a good fat and it contains lauric acid. Lauric acid is an antiviral and antibacterial substance.
